Scott Disick & Sofia Richie Cuddle Up & Look More In Love Than Ever On Kylie Jenner’s Italian Bday Trip – Hollywood Life

August 9th, 2019

It’s Kylie Jenner’s birthday getaway to the Italian Riviera, but Scott Disick and GF Sofia Richie have turned it into their own romantic vacation, looking more in love than ever before.

Scott Disick and Sofia Richie have spent more time cuddled up on Kylie Jenner‘s birthday getaway to Italy than the soon to be 22-year-old herself with partner Travis Scott. The 36-year-old Flip It Like Disick star and the 20-year-old model were seen sitting on the stone dock in Nerano, Italy on Aug. 9, and Scott had his arm lovingly around his lady, holding her close and looking like he was going in for a kiss. Their body language shows that after nearly two years together, the romance is still very much alive.

Scott wore a dark shirt and blue shorts while Sofia looked incredible in a white two piece outfit of a crop top halter and mini skirt. She wore open toe sandals and both of the lovebirds donned sunglasses to protect themselves from the Italian sun. It was a far more casual look than when the couple went out to dinner in Positano on Aug. 8. Sofia donned a stunning peach halter mini-dress that showed off the incredible tan she’s got on the Italian getaway while The Lord was his stylish self, with a jacket that matched his girlfriend’s dress, white pants and a crisp blue dress shirt.

Earlier that day the couple had fun aboard the a $250 million mega-yacht the group has travelled on to celebrate Kylie’s 22nd birthday week festivities along the Amalfi Coast. Scott was seen in photos getting flirty and playfully wrestling his bikini-clad girlfriend on the vessel, and with the help of a female pal ended up tossing Sofia into the Tyrrhenian Sea. But it was done with love of course!

The couple joined Kylie, Travis, their 18-month-old daughter Stormi, Kylie’s mom Kris Jenner, 63, and her BF Corey Gamble, 38, as well as several of Kylie’s closest gal pals including her assistant Victoria, Stassi Karanikolaou and Yris Palmer as they’ve cruised the Italian Riviera in the days leading up to Kylie’s Aug. 10 birthday. Kylie and Sofia have grown much closer throughout 2019, especially once sister Kourtney Kardashian, 40, finally gave her blessing to Scott and Sofia’s romance in Dec. of 2018.

Eat more plants, less meat to live longer and improve heart health, study suggests – KSL.com

August 9th, 2019

ATLANTA (CNN) — Eating more plants and less meat has been tied to a longer life and a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease in a new study.

Sticking to an overall plant-based diet or a diet that includes more plant foods than animal foods could be associated with a 16% lower risk of cardiovascular disease and up to 25% lower risk of early death, according to the study published in the Journal of the American Heart Association this week.

The new study adds to “the substantial body of literature” suggesting that consuming a plant-based diet is associated with better heart health and lower risk of death, said Casey Rebholz, an assistant professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore and senior author of the study.

“Plant-based diets emphasize higher intakes of plant foods and lower intakes of animal foods. Foods derived from plants include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, and legumes,” Rebholz said.

“Animal foods include meat, eggs, dairy, and fish or seafood,” she said. “In this study, we did not define plant-based diets on the basis of complete exclusion of animal foods from the diet … but rather ranked individuals according to their relative frequency of intake of these foods.”

The study involved data on 12,168 middle-aged adults in the United States, which came from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute’s Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities study.

The adults, who were followed up from 1987 through 2016, did not have cardiovascular disease at the start of the study.

The researchers took a close look at each adult’s usual diet and their heart health later in life, including whether they were diagnosed with stroke, heart failure or other events related to cardiovascular disease.

After analyzing the data, the researchers found that the adults who adhered to diets with mostly plant-based foods, compared with those who had the lowest adherence, had a 16% lower risk of cardiovascular disease; about 32% lower risk of dying from a cardiovascular disease; and 18% to 25% lower risk of early death from any cause.

The study had some limitations, including that the data on dietary intakes were based on people self-reporting their eating habits, which poses a risk of measurement error.

More research is needed to determine if a causal relationship exists, and to determine how the modern food supply might influence outcomes, as the data in the study came from years’ past.

Cardiovascular diseases, disorders of the heart and blood vessels such as heart disease, are the No. 1 cause of death globally, according to the World Health Organization.

The new study’s findings are “important,” said Dr. Michelle McMacken, director of the plant-based lifestyle medicine program at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue and an assistant professor of medicine at NYU School of Medicine in New York, who was not involved in the study.

“They strongly suggest that in a general US population who don’t necessarily identify as vegetarian, the higher the proportion of plant foods in the diet, the lower the risk of cardiovascular events and death from any cause,” McMacken said, adding that plant-based diets can promote heart health by multiple mechanisms.

“First, they are higher in beneficial nutrients such as fiber, plant fats, potassium, and antioxidants, and lower in potentially harmful nutrients such as animal-based iron, animal fats and nitrite preservatives,” she said.

“Second, plant-based diets are also linked to healthier body weights, lower inflammation, lower risk of type 2 diabetes, better blood pressure and blood vessel function, and beneficial gut bacterial metabolites,” she said. “All of these factors translate into a lower cardiovascular risk.”

Pinoys in Congo urged to remain cautious amid Ebola outbreak – ABS-CBN News

August 9th, 2019

MANILA – Filipinos based in the Democratic Republic of Congo have been advised to remain on alert amid the health threat of the Ebola outbreak.

“The Philippine Embassy in Nairobi, which has jurisdiction over the DRC, has advised the Filipino community to remain cautious and observe health safety precautions at all times,” the Department of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the ebola virus disease as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). WHO also recommended the implementation of heightened health measures in the DRC, which remains the only affected country in the region.

The DFA said it is closely monitoring the developments on the ebola outbreak in Central Africa.

It added that relevant government agencies such as the Department of Health and its Bureau of Quarantine, the Bureau of Immigration, the Civil Aeronautics Board and the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration should remain vigilant.

Figures of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas from 2013, the latest available data, showed that there were 597 Filipinos on a temporary stay in the DRC.

MoviePass Reportedly Changed Subscribers’ Passwords So They Couldn’t Use the Service – 411mania.com

August 9th, 2019

MoviePass’ rapid rise and fall is legendary at this point, and new information has revealed how desperate the company became to try and prevent losses. Business Insider reports (per /Film) that when things were starting to look dire, CEO Mitch Lowe went so far as to order employees to change the passwords of heavy users of the service so they would be unable to log in and use it.

The movie subscription made a major splash when it rolled out a $9.99 price that allowed subscribers to see one movie a day, a price point that raised a ton of eyebrows from analysts and industry experts. It quickly became evident that the service had an unsustainable model with that price point, and Lowe ordering the password changes was just one of the shady tactics used.

Lowe also allegedly ordered that half of the subscribers be frozen from using the service the weekend that Mission: Impossible – Fallout was released, which was immediately after the company was forced to borrow $5 million in cash in order to stay afloat after it ran out of money. Notably, this was in addition to Fallout being made unavailable on the service. The freezing out of customers was described in a tweet by MoviePass as a “technical issue” that they were working to resolve after people complained online.

Following that weekend, Lowe decreed that major blockbusters would no longer be available on the app. The company also instituted a “trip wire” which would shut down users if MoviePass went beyond a certain balance — initially a few million dollars, but eventually down to a few hundred thousand. The messaging on the app would read for users, “There are no more screenings at this theater today.”

One former staffer said of the trip wire, “It was a guessing game. There were some days we actually got all the way through without the trip wire going off.”

MoviePass is technically still in business, but that may not be the case for long as a compliance counsel at the U.S. Department of Justice told Business Insider that the company’s reported tactics are “certainly unethical and could be illegal.” Most subscribers have moved on to other, more stable and legitimate services like Cinemark Movie Pass, Regal Unlimited, and AMC A-List.

Kylie Jenner Rocks Pink Bikini Top While Grabbing Lunch With Travis Scott & Stormi – Hollywood Life

August 9th, 2019

The cosmetics CEO is on a luxe vacation in Italy to celebrate her 22nd birthday — and Kylie’s been keeping the sexy looks coming since she arrived!

Kylie Jenner is enjoying her last day as a 21-year-old! The billionaire stepped out in a plunging pink crochet bikini top, showing off her full, ample cleavage and a pair of hip-hugging pants, highlighting her curves and flat tummy. Both pieces are by Italian design house Missoni. She completed her look with gold bracelets, black sunglasses, a nude backpack and rings. Kylie rented out a yacht for $1.5 million a week ahead of her 22nd birthday, which is on Saturday, August 10.

In the new photos, taken Friday, August 9, Kylie is spotted with boyfriend Travis Scott, 28, and their adorable 17-month-old daughter Stormi Webster. Travis matches Kylie in a beige pair of chinos, a white Supreme t-shirt and Nike sneakers with pink accents. Stormi is also rocking Kylie’s go-to shade (she’s said that pink is her favorite color many times on social media) in a white-lace-top, pink scrunchie and sandals. Mom Kris Jenner (also in Missoni), 63, and model Sofia Richie, 20, joined the family for a lunch outing on the mainland of Italy in Nerano. Kylie has reportedly been staying on her boat near the closeby Island of Capri.

The group — who only arrived in Italy a few days ago — appear to be packing in the outings, taking a boat tour around Capri and stepping out for a dinner in the glamorous Positano. So far, Kylie has also been rocking plenty of Italian fashion, suggesting she pre-planned her outfits for the trip.

While there have been no details about how Kylie will ring in 22, the Kardashian’s usually don’t go for low-key celebrations — especially Kylie. There has also been rumors that she will wed long-time boyfriend Travis Scott on the trip.
